Our teaching methodology emphasizes developing dexterity in the application of students’ theoretical understanding. This aim is realized by the installation of well-equipped and technologically advanced laboratories that facilitate expeditious comprehension.

Laboratories play a crucial role in scientific advancement and technology. Many renowned scientists and researchers first developed their lifelong passion for science in their school labs, where they conducted their initial experiments.

Therefore, our advanced laboratories are equipped with sophisticated instruments essential for a child’s development. Practical experiments in these labs help students grasp fundamental concepts more quickly and effectively.

Our Physics Lab helps students connect classroom theory with practical application. Using a range of apparatus and machines, our faculty effectively trains students to understand and apply theoretical concepts. Our school features two spacious, well-ventilated physics labs, each equipped with approximately 130 apparatus and mechanisms. These labs offer students a practical perspective on the theories and models covered in their coursework. A key component of the lab experience is developing critical thinking skills as students troubleshoot and solve problems during experiments.


Our Chemistry Lab is designed to support and illustrate chemical concepts while introducing new and advanced laboratory techniques. It encourages analytical thinking and fosters a scientific spirit by allowing students to test and verify various theories and principles of chemistry.

The lab is well-equipped, meticulously maintained, and furnished with modern instruments. It accommodates up to 100 students and includes essential conveniences such as a First Aid Kit and safety materials to ensure a secure learning environment.

Our spacious and well-ventilated Botany Lab is equipped with a range of resources, including specimens, microscopes, permanent slides, and the latest methods for physiological experiments and genetics. The lab features dedicated sections for cutting plants, demonstrations, and dissections.

Accommodating up to 60 students, each with individual working tables, the lab is equipped with high-tech facilities such as an LED projector and a digital board. It also includes hundreds of specimens, models, charts, and chemicals. Additionally, the lab maintains a herbarium organized by family, genus, and species for in-depth study.

Our Zoology Lab is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities designed to support advanced studies. The lab provides a well-ventilated, spacious environment conducive to a comprehensive understanding of the animal kingdom. It enables students to explore the physical, morphological, and physiological characteristics of animals.

The lab features modern equipment and technology, including a digital board, projector, and various microscopes. It is stocked with hundreds of specimens and essential medical laboratory instruments, such as a haemocytometer. Important practical activities include specimen studies, blood group diagnostics, dissections, bone studies, and slide observations.

These facilities enhance students’ ability to observe, experiment, and grasp complex zoological concepts effectively.

The school is equipped with state-of-the-art computer labs designed to support students from primary through senior secondary levels. Our spacious, sophisticated Computer Science Laboratories feature high-speed internet connectivity and are regularly updated with the latest systems and software. We have three computer labs: two for lower classes and one main lab dedicated to students preparing for public exams. All three labs are high-tech, featuring LED projectors, virtual classroom facilities, and central air conditioning. Good communication skills are essential for success in all professions. In today’s globalized world, proficiency in English is crucial for career advancement. Therefore, enhancing English language skills is a priority for Indian students. Our institution recognizes this need and has established a high-tech digital language lab to support our young learners. The lab is equipped with internationally certified language learning software and provides audio-visual content to comprehensively enhance language skills. The lab focuses on the four core language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It employs a blended methodology that includes games, play-way techniques, recording, repetition, and practice exercises to facilitate effective learning.

Amal Vision is an educational channel that broadcasts various programs designed to instil discipline, good manners, and ethics in our students from an early age.

The school is proud to announce that, for the first time in the history of school education, an educational channel named Amal Vision—an in-house educational channel—has been established. Various educational programs are telecast within the school campus. We find it to be an effective tool in inculcating discipline, good manners, and life ethics, as well as enriching the knowledge of our developing students. For Amal Vision TV, the school has designed a fully equipped mixing studio and recording theatre. The studio is fully outfitted with computerized mixers, broadcasting software, and a recording theatre for telecasting live programs and recording various segments that are broadcast periodically. Additional programs are planned and telecast with a view to fostering the all-around development of our students. Transport facilities are available for students from Grade III to Grade XII. Vehicles operate in and around Puducherry to commute students to and from the school.

Bus facilities are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The school takes utmost care in transportation, using only new buses and minibuses designed according to safety standards stipulated by the Government of India. All vehicles are fitted with speed governors to ensure the safety of the students.

The vehicles are also equipped with CCTV cameras that can be monitored from the school campus. Inspections of the vehicles are conducted at regular intervals to avoid unnecessary breakdowns.

Our school has a well-equipped dispensary with full-time, experienced, and qualified nurses, a doctor, and a specialized doctor on call. The dispensary is fitted with hospital beds and the necessary medical equipment.

The nurses have access to everything they need, including medicines, to ensure the well-being of our students and staff.

The school also organizes regular medical check-ups in association with reputed hospitals, including physical examinations, specialized eye exams, and dental check-ups, all conducted within the school premises.

Our Health care facilities

Our School conducts a comprehensive dental check-up for its students, focusing on the early detection and prevention of oral health issues. The dental camp also emphasizes the importance of maintaining proper oral hygiene, with professionals offering valuable guidance on caring for teeth and gums to promote overall well-being.

The school maintains a detailed health report card as prescribed by the Government of India. A health report card is maintained for each student and is frequently updated. Care and due diligence are given to the maintenance of these health records.

Medical camps are periodically organized by the school to provide health services and promote a healthy environment. These camps offer free tests for diabetes, blood pressure, haemoglobin, etc., and provide counselling and treatment by trained doctors and specialists. In addition to basic treatment and general check-ups, the medical camps also help our students become aware of their health status.
More than 75% of blindness cases are preventable if identified in time. While eye examinations offer significant benefits, they are most effective when done regularly. With this in mind, Amalorpavam organizes regular eye check-ups conducted by experienced ophthalmologists. In these camps, optometrists check for near-sightedness, far-sightedness, and any other ocular symptoms.
Menstrual hygiene education, accessible sanitary products, pain relief, and adequate sanitary facilities are provided at the school. Since hygiene practices during menstruation are of considerable importance, the school takes significant efforts to educate all its students.

Amalorpavam has organized more than 10 COVID vaccination camps. Additionally, the school has been actively involved with the health department, providing necessary vaccines such as the polio vaccine for school children.

With the growing influence of junk food, the school recognizes the importance of an obesity training program. Students’ BMI is recorded, and those identified as obese are counselled and enrolled in our training program. The program has gained significant momentum in recent months.

To provide healthy alternatives to junk food, the school has partnered with experienced nutritionists to develop a balanced, nutritious meal plan for its students. The plan includes a healthy drink and a balanced lunch, carefully curated to ensure the best quality for our children.

Smart Education

The Smart Class project is an emerging revolution in the history of school education, developed to educate students through animated computer software, making it easier for them to understand concepts. The Smart Class project has been implemented by the school in two different phases.

Smart class systems are installed in all classrooms, where teachers explain concepts using computer systems. The entire school, from LKG to Class XII, has been fully converted into smart classrooms. Educational content has been developed as movies, and the animated content has been mapped to the students’ syllabi, enabling them to better understand the material than through traditional chalk-and-board methods alone. The following components have been installed in every classroom for smart education:

  • A 42” to 55 inches LED televisions mounted above the blackboard.
  • A Lenovo computer with Intel I5 processors to fetch smart class data from the server.
  • Wireless keyboard and mouse for convenient handling by the teachers.
  • Remote control units for switching the CPU and TV on and off.

Typically, teachers use visual aids like charts and flashcards to explain concepts to students. Now, these concepts are explained in the form of videos. Given the large network, there is always the possibility of data loss during transmission. To prevent delays and data loss, high-end manageable gigabyte switches are installed to ensure error-free data transmission.

The software content is available for all subjects except language and computer science, with licensed content provided by Edusmart Service (P) Ltd. Teachers are trained to handle the software, and an in-house software engineer is available on the school campus to assist teachers with content searching and development.

Since 1994, our NSS Volunteers have been involved in with Zest and Zeal in a variety of social service activities like campus cleaning, velrampet lake cleaning project, beach cleaning, orientation programme, awareness campaign, fire safety programme, disaster management programme etc.
1(P) Air SQN NCC Air wing is engaged in grooming young children to serve and be a disciplined patriotic citizen. The Air wing has been inaugurated on 23-08 2016 in our school. Cadets are given small hands – on training.
To inculcate the young minds with the values of brotherhood, help the needy in an unselfish way, promote the values of solidarity, good health, international friendship and establishing a peaceful nation and to teach the basic skills necessary for responding during emergencies in natural calamities, JRC has been inaugurated on 27.07.2013 in association with Indian Red Cross Society, Puducherry. Students of JRC have attended 2 camps at Dharmasthala from 30.11.2014 to 10.12.2015 and another in Trichy on 26.12.2015.
In order to develop leadership, character, comradeship and the spirit of sportsmanship among the students, Naval Troop 1(P) Naval Unit has been inaugurated on 29th June 2012. Students are being selected and given drill practice and sent to various camps organized by NCC Naval Unit and conducive environment is created to motivate the students to join the armed force.
We have the ELC members of the highest strength in the state of about 2997 students from class 9 to 12. Various programmes are regularly conducted for our students thereby creating awareness on different electoral processes. Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School has received State Best Electoral Literacy Club Award for the year 2018-19 and 2021-22, and Best Nodal Officer award in the year 2020-21for conducting ELC activities through online even during COVID-19 pandemic.

The School has taken necessary precautions in order to prevent any untoward incident in the case of an emergency, like fire. Every floor of our school buildings is fitted with fire safety equipment, like fire extinguisher (CO2 and ABC Gas Cylinders), hose reel watering system and sand banks wherever necessary. Students, Teachers, Non-teaching staff are given special training with the help of fire experts on how to act on emergency. A drill is also conducted on frequent basis.

The school is providing purified drinking water for all the students and for the said purpose the school has installed five centralized Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification plant of various capacities like 250 l/hr, 500 l/hr, 750 l/hr and 1000 l/hr installed in various buildings in the school. The said water purification plant eliminate contaminations from the water along with TDS and provides effective de-salination, removing the odour and enhancing the taste of water. Such water purification plants remove all unnecessary bacteria and virus from the water which is hazardous to health. The filtration process also removes the toxins and makes water clean, pure and fit for drinking. The entire system is automated and the purified drinking water is provided to all our students throughout the day through sufficient number of taps.

Rev.Sr.Mary Anthuvanet Hostel

Rev. Sr. Mary Anthuvanet Hostel run by Amalorpavam Educational Welfare Society was established during the year 1987 in memory of the great sacrifice rendered by Rev.Sr.Mary Anthuvanet, the Founder’s sister, during her attempt to help the flood victims in Bihar. In the Hostel, boys and girls of our School are admitted and only limited boarders are preferred. The boarders are under the direct control and supervision of the Principal of the School. Affectionate nannies are readily available to attend to all the immediate needs of the children, such as bathing, shoe polishing, laundry, dressing up, toilet assistance at night and so on. The hostel has a good kitchen facility and provides both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food and maintains the correct nutritional balance.

The power systems of the entire school campus has been well planned with highly skilled electrical architects and all safety measures for the immediate shut down of the power supply during emergencies and power short circuit has been provided. It maintains separate electrical room and UPS cabin whereby all electronic gadgets are powered by centralized UPS. To ensure continuous power supply, the main school campus is provided with 200 KVA acoustic fully automatic power generator and the primary building with 200 KVA and 82.5 KVA acoustic fully automatic power generator. 320 KVA high tension Indoor substation is installed in the Lourdes Campus.
